Standards Evidence For the process of my artwork I started to sketch some cacti and I practiced doing the darker part of the cacti and the lighter part as well. When I started my final artwork I decided that the cactus should be on a desk. Artist Statement My artwork is a setup like a desk with the aesthetic of around the 1920's. I don't have a title for my work yet. So far I have only used watercolor, I am going to use colored pencil. What inspired my artwork was the cactus my mom got me. My goals are to get better at art and learn more, this artwork helped me learn more and get better. I was just going to do a green cactus but as I looked at other images I realized that there is a darker side and a lighter side of a cactus.

Heres what I have been practice drawing. I tried a few different pots and tried drawing the cactus. I have been looking at cactus drawings. I have been looking at how different people draw the prickly parts of a cactus. I have been thinking about doing tempra paint, watercolor, or oil pastels.
The first picture has black and white media and the red is color pencil. I really liked the drawing pencils and color pencils. I didn't really like the pen and ink because it was hard for me to figure it out. In the second picture there is chalk pastel with different techniques. Some of my favorite techniques were stippling, feathering, and blending. I really enjoyed the chalk pastels because they were fun to use. The first image is my attempt at a galaxy using oil pastels. I didn't really like oil pastels because they are messy. The second image is watercolor. I really liked water color because it is fun to use. Some of my favorite techniques are graded wash, wet on wet, splatter, stamping, rubbing alcohol, salt texture, and plastic wrap texture.
The only art class I took was 8th grade art.
I hope to learn new techniques with materials. A risk I'll take is failing. A goal I have is to learn something new at the end of the semester. |
